Meet BLOSSOM!  This precious kitty is a 1-year-old, female, 8 lb, Domestic Short Hair Dilute Tortoiseshell. She was dumped at Chicago Animal Control with several other kitties from a home that had too many. Blossom did not receive a lot of attention, so she is somewhat scared of people and is semi-feral.  However, she LOVES the company of other kitties!  Blossom just needs someone who understands that not all kitties have to be lap kitties and would like to have a friend for their existing kitty.  She can hang out in your presence, but will head for the hills if you go towards her.  We believe that with time (maybe months, possibly a few years), she will warm up.  Blossom doesn't always look this crabby.  :-)  When she is with another kitty, her body language is relaxed and soft, and she looks so sweet that it truly melts your heart!

Why Two Cats Are Better Than One

Cats who have a playmate tend to be more socially well-adjusted and tend to overcome behavioral issues like shyness or being frightened. Also, cats need stimulation during the day like humans. In an owner's absence, two cats will keep each other company and will provide a source of comfort to one another. Another benefit to having multiple cats, especially if they are a bonded pair, is that they will entertain each other and get the necessary exercise that they need through play.
